Aha! Moment Monday
Did you ever read Einstein’s definition of insanity? It is this: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
We smile, nod and agree that it is true, all the while recognizing that we may have lived the statement more than we care to admit.
We read books, attend seminars, listen to podcasts, take courses, engage in discussion groups, searching for that one nugget, that one gem, that one element or behaviour that will be the one thing that puts us on course. Then what?
Now think back – one year, two years, 10 years – and draw on a time when you may have identified a desired outcome. You wrote a clear goal then after a month or two or six, it didn’t materialize. Then maybe you modified, or worse, abandoned your goal because the goal no longer seemed realistic, you couldn’t figure out how to make it happen or came to the conclusion it was just going to be more effort than you had. Let’s clear up a few things: YES, you are worthy of your goal, NO, you don’t have to know how to attain it, and FOR SURE you have a ton of energy for meaningful stuff, so falling short of living the dream couldn’t be a result of any of those.
Returning to a place of comfort and habit – doing the same thing and expecting different results – relates to the unconscious narrative or story we have created for ourselves and more importantly the questions we ask that arrive from that story. Could a simple shift from, “But what if I fail?” to “I wonder how far I can go with this?” reignite a goal by inviting new possibilities?
Aha! ~ Don’t question your outcome, question your questions.
The answers you receive, the people you attract, the scenarios you create and the outcome you experience are all related to the questions you are asking.
“One of the most dynamic ways we impair our curiosity is when we judge, self-criticize, or see any part of our lives or ourselves as lacking.” Says Dr. Dain Heer.
What you are living is an exact portrayal of your thoughts that relate to your beliefs that drive your questions and produce your results. You see your mind automatically searches for answers that identically respond to what you ask.
