Reading time: 62 seconds
You go, and go, and go, and go, and go, and go, and go, and go and finally, Friday afternoon at the cottage … ahhhhhhhhhhh!
You made it!!!
Then, don’t you just get the best sleep Friday night??
Now, have you noticed this trend of people really craving time off??
I don’t mean just looking forward to some R&R but seriously in dire need of it.
I’m witnessing that our lives have become so busy – so demanding – and technology has made it so easy to do everything in “real time” (a fancy phrase for “NOW”).
We’re simply expected to be ON – full throttle – for, like, 18 of our 24-hours and wear six-hour-sleeps like a badge of honour!
Plus, we not only work in concrete jungles, recent statistics reveal that 60% of us work without natural light.
What’s with that??
Talk about a recipe for major road-rage on the highway that leads to the lake…if you make it to the lake.
Aha – “If you neglect to recharge a battery, it dies” ~ Oprah Winfrey
Studies show that people who have adapted to getting only six hours of sleep a night haven’t adapted at all; in fact, at some point in their process of sleep deprivation they lost touch with how impaired they actually are. When you’re exhausted your memory is challenged and your ability to assess a situation is weakened. Lack of sleep hurts cognitive processes like thinking and learning, your decision-making ability suffers and heck, you’re probably not a super pleasant person to be around. (oh wait, that’s me).
Likely your emotional battery recharges differently than anyone else’s – maybe you need more nature-time, party-time, reading-time, hobby-time, sport-time – but there scientific proof about your need for zzzzzzzzzz-time.
Think about it.
Your very favourite candles only burn from one end, right?
Be one of them.
