Aha Moment Monday

June 10, 2013 By Jae M. Rang

Reading time 43 seconds

Everyone seems so stressed about making that bottom line happen. Rightly so. It’s a complex balancing act of number crunching, market reading, production and so much more.

In its simplest form, though, what’s the one element that’s behind every successful company??

You’ve got it! People!!

And when we’re happy we give more, work better and play nicer…right?

So how do we get happy?

Aha! Raise our serotonin levels! (bet you didn’t see that one coming)

Really!

I’m no doctor but I’ve read that serotonin is the feel-good chemical in our brain. Living in the northern hemisphere, and the fact that so many of us work inside these days, could be deterrents to us not being the consistently happy contributors we ought to be.

So how can we raise our serotonin levels?

1) Exercise! According to a report in the UK by the National Institute for Health, exercise worked better at improving moods than some antidepressants!

2) Positive disposition. Alterations in outlook can alter brain metabolism and blood flow. (there’s that mind/body connection thing again)

3) SUNSHINE!!

I’m holding this picture of your next sales meeting being outdoors
