For several years now, Jae M. Rang has been stimulating the minds of her readers through her weekly Aha! Moment Monday articles – thought-provoking reflections on daily life with the power to shake up your habitual “comfortable” thought patterns, and open your mind to countless new perspectives.
Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario – in the heart of the Niagara wine region – Jae has enjoyed a life-long passion for peak performance and self-development.
At the age of just 16, Jae got her pilot’s license – before she even had her driver’s license! Then, as a professional figure skater, she performed with the Ice Follies, and spent fifteen years teaching both figure and power skating.
And now, as Founder and Chief Inspiring Officer of the promotional marketing agency JAE associates Ltd., Jae is a leader in the field of influencing behavioral change through sensory input.
With training under Bob Proctor, and certified as a speaker with Life Success Productions, Jae also gives talks and conducts workshops across North America on two of her favorite topics (and areas of major expertise) – Marketing and Personal Development. Yet she still considers herself an eternal and insatiable student of human behavior … which Jae says really took off with the birth of her son.
A VERY proud Canadian and avid sports fan, Jae ALWAYS stands for the playing of the National Anthem … even when watching a hockey game in her own living room! And when she’s not working with clients, teaching, studying, writing, or being “the best Mom I can be” Jae is most likely on the golf course.
Jae is also the best-selling author of SENSORY MEDIA, Discover the Way to Anchor Your Brand and Be Memorable, which reframes the promotional products industry, as well as 50 Simple Ways to Increase Brand Visibility. Her weekly “Aha Moments” column is enjoyed by thousands of readers in over a dozen countries.
My first presentation as a professional speaker was in the late 1990’s.
My presentation was entitled, OOOP,S! OOOPS,S! was actually an acronym for Out Of Our Past, Success! The aim of the workshop was to enlighten participants that their past failures or disappointments were actually important stepping stones to their future; that those stepping stones represented necessary risks and change. Regardless of whether the outcome of a risk matches the expectation, the learning experience brings you to where you are now.
As part of that workshop I asked the audience to develop a personal mission statement. I had just gone through that exercise myself and realized the value in really identifying who I am, as well as my unique person. It helps make sense of the past. Everyone engaged willingly. Some people’s statements were one word, others were a paragraph, but they were all as unique as the individual.
My statement is this:
Live from the heart. Be a best friend. Enjoy every moment.
This personal statement is about doing the right thing regardless who is watching, being compassionate and supportive to all souls (including myself), and to live on purpose honouring every aspect of my gifts and being. I live by this statement and it is printed on the dedication page of the Aha! Moment Journal.
Now, here is our Y’s charitable purpose:
The YMCA in Canada is dedicated to the growth of all persons in spirit, mind and body, and to their sense of responsibility to each other and the global community.
Their values are: Caring, Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Inclusiveness. The Y supports all people in all stages of their lives. (While each Y around the globe will have an individual purpose, the core message of each, and values, are the same.)
Not only do our principals align, our aim – to positively affect, and inspire growth in, people – is the same .... all around the globe.
Together we will challenge ourselves, move ourselves and celebrate ourselves.
50% of the proceeds of sales of the Aha! moment journals will be donated to the YMCA.
Half will be given to the Y Oakville and the other half to one international destination.
“It’s amazing, and heart-warming, how often I hear from different people who have all gotten something different from the same ‘Aha! Moment’, and I love how each story can apply to the lives and challenges of so many people at once!”
