Reading time: 42 seconds plus five minutes of celebrating
I need to share some really special news with you!
In January, at the national awards ceremony, I will be honored with the PPPC* Humanitarian Award.
Seems the committee ruled by “a vast majority” (according to Ed Ahad, the Executive Director), that I was the choice for 2015.
Wow, eh? This is humbling and exciting all at the same time.
Are you down to celebrate this together?
Here’s what I’m thinking.
What can you do in fewer than five minutes that would change someone’s life?
Call someone you haven’t spoken to for a while and let them know you’re thinking of them?
Write a thank-you note?
Register for a charity walk?
Offer to give directions to someone on the street obviously disoriented?
Bring your neighbours garbage bins in?
Pick up a few extra groceries for the food bank?
Offer to babysit for someone who needs shopping time?
Give listening time to someone who needs to make a decision?
Any of these might not sound like a big deal to you but I can promise you, to the person receiving the gift, it is!
Naturally if you’re inspired to give more than five minutes or start a new initiative, awesome, but it is amazing the difference you can make just in five minutes.
So, I’d like to start a scrapbook of this event and include your five minute gift.
Whatever you decide to do, shoot me off a quick email letting me know how you’re going to celebrate with me.
(this might be a fun collection to share at Awards Night)
