I love this time of year.
There is definitely a magic in the air.
It must be about Santa – the spirit of giving and goodwill; it’s inspiring and enchanting and brings us closer together.
I also think the magic has something to do with chocolate 🙂
“Christmas baking” was a family tradition when I was younger.
My mom made the most incredible trays of one delectable and colourful cookie after another.
And the melt-in-your-mouth squares. Mmmmm…..
As kids we used to help decorate the cookies.
I think we made some of the strangest, uh, I mean most creatively designed snowmen on the planet.
A lot of love went into making those treats and I know it was mom’s gift of time that made them so incredibly special.
Aha – “The only gift is a portion of thyself” ~ Emerson
You hear everyone talk about “commercialism” and “stress” at this time of year.
Just stop for a second and know this.
The greatest gift you will EVER give is the gift of YOU
(your kids might tell you it’s the new X-box 🙂 then they’ll write something like this when they’re older)
Savour Christmas moments – all of them – like you savour homemade shortbread: totally present with a big smile on your face.
Cheers: To memories. May you create some of your most favourite ones this holiday season, and may they include chocolate.
